Entertaiment is an activity that occupies the mind and diverts the attention. It ranges in scale from the private entertainment of a single individual to events designed for thousands, and it may be active or passive. It can include a crossword puzzle, a dinner party with music and dancing, or a performance of any kind. The connections between different forms of entertainment are evident in the way that a story like Scheherazade, from Persian professional storytelling tradition, inspires Rimsky-Korsakov, Pasolini and other composers to write orchestral music; a movie and innovative video games follow; and it is even adapted as a theme song for a pop band.
